BEFORE your appointment

All methods of electrolysis work with the moisture in your body to create the reaction that destroys the follicle tissue. Come well hydrated to your appointment.

Please come with clean, moisturized skin to your appointment. If the area to be treated is dry, a gentle exfoliation before your scheduled treatment can help to open up the follicle tissue and increase the ease of your treatment.

Your hair must be at least 1/8th inch long for your appointment. Please make sure to grow the hair long enough that it can be easily grabbed with a tweezer.

Make sure to stop using all retinol and vitamin A derivatives at least two weeks before your scheduled appointment. These products act as chemical exfoliants and are unsafe to use on the skin that will be treated with electrolysis. You can continue to use these products on other areas of your body.

Skin Reaction & Healing

Immediately following treatment, Edema (slight swelling and pinkness) and a warm sensation are common skin reactions. These typically disappear within hours of treatment.

Treatment may result in small scabbing. If any scabs appear following treatment, let them heal naturally and DO NOT PICK THEM OFF.

These are part of the normal healing process. Follow your home care instructions and let your electrolgist know of any adverse reactions.

Home Care Instructions

Be careful not to touch the treated area as this can delay the healing process since our hands are not free from bacteria.

A cold compress or ice may be applied to treated area to reduce swelling if necessary. Aloe vera and antibacterial creams may also be applied.

Use only clean, hypoallergenic makeup for 24 hours after treatment.

Gently clean treated area morning and night with a mild cleanser. Avoid any heavy creams or abrasive exfoliants for at least 48 hours.

Wear sunscreen and avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 48 hours after treatment.

Stick to your treatment plan

FOR OPTIMUM RESULTS…

Do not tweeze or wax between treatments. When hair is removed in the this manner, the follicle can be stimulated to produce a stronger hair. They may distort the hair follicle, making electrolysis treatments more difficult. It takes approximately 10 - 12 weeks for that hair to regrow before it can be treated again with electrolysis.
